It starts with the brain first!

Jiu-Jitsu Your Brain might be a strange phrase, but think about what the Martial Art of Jiu-Jitsu is based on and the effect it has on our brain.

Let’s make sure we’re on the same page just so everyone can follow along. Jiu-Jitsu is based on the principle of Leverage! Think of or Google the Pareto Principle as an example. Now, the art uses the same principles to be applied to manipulate or control the joints/appendages using as little force necessary, but with great effect to achieve an outcome. In this case, a submission. Submission is the outcome that shows one of the practitioners had the skill or advantage and defeated the opponent. All these skills are stored in our brain and muscle memory. There are different factors that led to this in general but i won’t get into those details here. But this is where i derived the term Jiu-Jitsu Your Brain! You use Leverage starting with what put in your head!

This art has many benefits. One is that it gives a great whole body workout. Two it is a game of chess for the mind. Exercise is proven to help with blood flow to include the brain. It is considered a thinking game, played on the mats. You can get creative here with enough time! My point here, find something to get the juices flowing to your brain!

Now, think about this, every part of the body consist of an organ of some type or part of an organ. The one i want to cover is probably the most overlooked organ and that is the Brain. Until recently (we’re talking decades) not much has been known about it, physically and mentally. With more advances in science more and more is being discovered.

SOME WAYS TO “BIOHACK” OR JIU-JITSU YOUR BRAIN

Many of us would like to get more out of our brain such as improved memory, awareness, and quality of sleep to name a few. So, i want to go over a few things that may help in both the physical and mental improvement of everyone’s brain. You know, to Jiu-Jitsu it!

MEDITATION

Meditation is a tried-and-true path to enhanced awareness and spirituality!

Start with this-> The 4-7-8 Breathing Exercise- This breathing is one of the breathing exercises that i have used to help with something that i’ve just started recently for helping me with meditation. This also helps me with my sleep issue. I’m a very light sleeper and it takes awhile to get to sleep.

How To Energize & Activate The Brain

Based on the research of Dr. Joie P. Jones of the Dept. of Radiological Sciences at the University of California, the exercise works using the body’s energy centres which absorb, digest, and distribute energy to different parts of the body. These primary energy centres are actually major acupuncture points. Acupressure energy points for the brain, eyes, forehead, mouth, ovaries, parotid, temples, and testes congregate around the area of the ear affected by pressure from the exercise. In addition, the finger pads used in the exercise stimulate neuropathways into the brain by activating acupuncture points on the earlobes. According to Dr. Jones, after doing the exercise, an EEG scan shows the right and left hemispheres of the brain have synchronized.
We are a culture accustomed to exercising to get fit, but with the power of the Superbrain Yoga squat we can now become brighter in the process! Prolonged practice of the Superbrain Yoga makes the practitioner, in general, smarter and more psychologically balanced! This is another form of “biohack” for your health.

BRAIN ENTRAINMENT

Now, to add to this breathing exercise, i want to add something called brainwave entrainment. The research behind this is clear. But before i go further, think about this, how does music make you feel?

The reason i ask is to set in your mind, proof. If a series of sounds (music) can have an effect on your mood, then why can it not have an positive effect on the state of your mind?

Your brain has 100 billion neurons that use electricity to talk to each other. At any moment, millions of neurons are talking at once, which produces a lot of electrical activity. When this activity is measured with an EEG, the result is a wave-like pattern called a brainwave.

The frequency of this brainwave depends on what you are doing.

Brainwaves 101:

  • Beta (14–30 Hz): awake, concentrated, alert. We spend most of the day here.
  • Alpha (8–14 Hz): meditative state, awake but relaxed, twilight state between sleep and waking, improved memory recall.
  • Theta (4–8 Hz): light dreaming, access to unconscious mind.
  • Delta (0.1–4 Hz): deep dreamless sleep, restorative, complete loss of awareness.

In a process called Frequency Following Response, a consistent sound wave has been shown to change your brainwaves. Research has shown that audio entrainment helps meditators create awareness several times faster than traditional meditation.

Binaural beats are one example of audio brainwave entrainment.

You get the point though: We can think about the same experience in different ways. If we are grateful, we positively change our perspective on the experiences in our lives!

Gratitude is a daily practice, similar to meditation. Like meditation, it becomes more natural over time. In fact, gratitude and meditation go very well together, like Yin & Yang. I see this as Leveraging or applying Jiu-Jitsu to your thoughts and emotions. Part of being spiritual!

Remember: What you put into your body affects what you get out! This includes all your senses. In this case, your thoughts create the world you experience. If you put gratitude in, you get gratitude out!

Oh, you didn’t know there was a difference? Some time ago i didn’t know either. Well, there is a lot of information out there. Researching weight-loss or fat-loss diets can take up a lot of time. And it can be frustrating. There are many factors to be considered depending on the person’s goal(s). I personally want to keep the fat off but gain weight in muscle..up to a certain point.

Naturally, if you start to lose fat, you’ll see the weight drop as well. But different or specific goals for different body types don’t have a one-size-fits-all and there may be challenges that sometimes kill motivation or slow progress.

PLAN

Well a Plan specific to your needs or goals is a very important part for successfully achieving the desired results! Most people overlook this. Why? Well, due to a few things but one reason is having the right information presented to them at the right time. That time is NOW! You have to well-informed to start off right. And design a plan. A plan will be the foundation to setting realistic small goals and finding resources to reduce or eliminate time wasted and of course saving money.

DECISION

Having made a solid decision to learn what is required and take action is the way to go! If someone is not serious about their weight-loss or fat-loss goals, or their health, then they are just taking a gamble and risk not achieving anything significant at all. Make a decision and follow through. Write simple notes and place them somewhere to view them daily. This is a proven method! Self accountability is key! Having an accountability partner is very helpful but it all comes down to you.

Dude! I’ve been following internet millionaire Jeremy Schoemaker’s blog for some time now. He likes the UFC and i do too! LOL Okay so, i’m on his ShoeMoney Network newsletter and had seen an email that said he was frustrated that he’d sold many “how to make money online” products and even though the content was good very few people ever logged in and did anything.
